A revolver and rifle scope can also be called a telescopic sight. A scope is used as an accuracy tool when dispensing ammunition from a firearm. Scopes are classified through magnification ability. Larger scopes allow for more light and generally have more magnification power. Some scopes have adjustable sights allowing for magnification to be changed manually. A 10 by 50 scope provides 10 times the magnification of the normal eye.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Vise
  • Scope
  • Revolver
  • Cloth/pad
  • Blank wall
  1. Step 1

Fix the revolver in a padded vise—allow room for you to look into the scope towards a wall at the end of the revolver. Make sure there is a great distance between the revolver and the wall.

  2. Step 2

Set the scope on the revolver and line up the attachment holes to the holes on the barrel.

  3. Step 3

Twist the scope rings into place on the barrel of the revolver. Make sure that the scope lies on the rings in such a way that you can turn the screws without movement of the scope.

  4. Step 4

Take a level and place it on the barrel of the revolver. Move the revolver in the vise until it is level and then retighten.

  5. Step 5

Grip the scope and spin it until the crosshairs no longer wobble. This will determine the accuracy of your shot.

  6. Step 6

Observe the level one more time on the revolver. If it is correct, then set the scope in the rings.

  7. Step 7

Draw a crosshair on the far wall and use your level to make sure the lines are plumb. Align the vertical line of the scope with the vertical line on the wall. The same goes for the horizontal line in the scope.

Tips & Warnings
