Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Medium royal icing in yellow and purple
  • Piping bags
  • Tip 104
  • Tip 5
  • Flower nail
  • Wax paper
  1. Step 1

Use tips 104 and 5, a flower nail and medium royal icing to make pansies. Make two batches of icing, one yellow and one purple.

  2. Step 2

Cut wax paper the size of the flower nail. Draw a line through the center of the circle, then draw another line dividing one side in half. Put the wax paper on the flower nail.

  3. Step 3

Load a piping bag with yellow icing and use tip 104. Hold the bag at a 45 degree angle. Start at the outside of one of the circle quarters. Squeeze the icing and steadily move into the middle of the nail.

  4. Step 4

Release the bag and pull up to create flower petals. Repeat on the other divided quarter.

  5. Step 5

Change icing color. Repeat making three smaller petals that cover the other half of the flower nail. Make two more small petals out of yellow icing on top of the two larger yellow petals.

  6. Step 6

Create a flower center using tip 1. Push the center dot flat. Remove pansy from the flower nail and allow to harden before putting on a cake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Thin food coloring with clear vanilla extract and create shading on the pansies. Add the classic darker lines coming from the center of pansies.
