When the cell phone first hit the scene, it was clunky and big with terrible reception. But now having just any cell phone isn't even enough, you must have a cell phone that is "wired." We're talking access to the web, email, texting, sports scores, ring tones and more. You need a PDA. Since the latest and greatest can be a little pricey, you should consider buying used. Here are some tips on where to buy a used PDA.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Visit online auction sites to purchase your used PDA. Online auction sites have created an entire global marketplace. This global marketplace creates competition, which in turn allows you, the consumer, to get a great deal on a great phone. Just be sure you are buying from a reputable dealer with a high seller rating.
Step2
Buy your PDA from someone you know. All of us have that friend who has to have the best PDA out there. If they are in a contract with their current mobile phone company, they will most likely not get a great discount on a new phone, since they are switching within the one to two year time commitment usually required. Make your friend an offer they can't refuse. Offer them an amount slightly below what his phone would sell for online. If they want to change phones, chances are they will bite as it saves the expense of listing the phone and being without one for a few days.
Step3
Check out sites that specialize in refurbished phones. Plug "buy used PDA" into your favorite search engine and check out the multitude of results. Some great web based companies that specialize in this are listed in Resources below. Visit their sites and get the PDA of your dreams.
Step4
Scour community sites. They are fantastic places to search for people who are looking sell their PDA. Or place an ad yourself and tell people that you are willing to buy a used PDA.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get a warranty. While in many cases, the manufacturer warranty will be void, try to get a warranty from the company that sells you the phone.
  • If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Cell phones are like liquid electronics, they have a constant turnover. Be careful when it comes to scams. Always buy your used PDA from a reputable dealer.
