How to Draw Calvin and Hobbes

Read Calvin and Hobbes comic strips. Pay attention to the details of the artwork and the different styles used by Watterson.

Buy tracing paper. Trace your favorite Calvin and Hobbes strips just to get the hang of the lines and movements of Calvin and Hobbes.

Make a simple grid using a ruler. Start with equal measurements to desgn a grid that measures 6 x 6. Focus on the cartoon character's facial features and move to the body, once you master this technique.

Select one clear image of Calvin and start drawing without tracing. Use a ruler to create a larger grid for the Calvin and Hobbes comic you wish to draw.

Recreate the picture using graph paper. Draw segment by segment until you have copied the entire Calvin and Hobbes comic.
