1. Decide whether you really want to go through the hassle of stealing a newspaper when you can just gather change and buy one. You could face time in jail.
2. Wait until nobody is around to catch you. It's very risky to try to steal a paper in the morning when a lot of people are trying to get a newspaper.
3. Try inserting a metal hanger into the coin slot of the vending machine and wiggling it around until you hear a click. Grab as many newspapers as you want. This only works for certain machines.
4. Hold down the coin return button and pull firmly on the handle. This only works on certain machines but should be tried before you move onto the more drastic attempts to gain a free newspaper.
5. Cut through the handle of the vending machine using a hacksaw. This is most time consuming way to get a free newspaper and must be done during hours when you are less likely to be seen.
6. Smash the glass on the front of the machine and reach in carefully to grab a newspaper. This is the simplest way to get free newspapers but also the most risky because the noise can attract attention to you. It should only be used as a last resort.
