When thinking about Halloween, it just makes sense to make your own costume. It is very satisfying to create a costume that is based on a much-loved character from your youth. A Raggedy Andy costume would be easy and fun to make. The costume design doesn't have to be perfect. You can use items you already have instead of buying an expensive costume.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a mop head and dye it red or use red yarn for the hair. You can also get an inexpensive red wig. If you need to, you can pin the wig to your head with bobby pins.

  2. Step 2

Use a white shirt. Wear the shirt with blue jeans or slacks. You can use shorts with colored suspenders.

  3. Step 3

Wear tube socks with red and white horizontal stripes. You will need black shoes.

  4. Step 4

You can use some red Halloween make up to paint your nose red. Add red circles on your cheeks, if you would like.

  5. Step 5

Now you are ready to attend a Halloween party or take your children trick-o-treating.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your hair is light enough, you can dye it red with a powdered drink mix. You can also get Halloween hair dye that washes out easily.
  • Simplicity has a Raggedy Ann and Andy sewing pattern. This is for people who would rather make their costume from a pattern.
  • Dress your children like Raggedy Andy and go as a family of rag dolls.
  • Make sure you check all of your children's candy before they eat it.
