Eliminate Mucus

Mucus is an annoying side effect of respiratory infections or asthma. You can reduce or eliminate it with proper diet and treatment. Once mucus is under control, the underlying problems often clear up.

Instructions

    • 1

Drink at least 1 cup of water per hour. This beverage will help thin the mucus so it can be coughed up or drained easily.

    • 2

Eliminate mucus and fats from your body by using the herb chickweed. It also helps the digestive system and cleanses the blood.

    • 3

Use horehound, a perennial herb, to fight mucus. It has many uses but can also be toxic. Research it before using.

    • 4

Take an herb or physical enema if you are constipated. If the bowel is clogged, the lymphatic system can't drain and mucus builds up in the body.

    • 5

Flavor your food with cayenne pepper, chili or other hot spices. These "hotties" can melt and loosen you mucus. They also carry other medicinal benefits.

    • 6

Stay away from foods that contribute to mucus buildup, including coffee, cocoa, caffeinated sodas, margarine, Jello, sugar, white flour, red meat, fried foods, tomatoes (spaghetti sauce is okay), eggplant and peppers.

    • 7

Eat plentiful amounts of fruits, vegetables, especially raw, grains, legumes, fruit juice, nuts, honey, sprouts and olive oil. Use a juicer to make smoothies if you don't like eating fruits and vegetables.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take a good quality multivitamin supplement.

  • Try to avoid stress.

  • Don't use alcohol or tobacco.

  • Don't eat dairy products while trying to eliminate mucus.
