      Use the straight needle to attach buttons onto upholstered cushions. This needle is also good for securing padding to the base. You will need a needle that is long enough to go through both the padding and the base material.

      Blind stitch with the curved needle whenever tacking is impossible. You also can use this needle to secure webbing. These curved needles come in different sizes that you can fit to the job and the materials.

      Work with the tufting needle to inject clasps. Load the tufting needle with a clasp and push it into the furniture cushion. Attach the clasp by pushing the plunger or manually removing the clip. Pull the exposed strings to tie and attach the button on or off the tuft at the desired depth.

      Use a packing needle to work with heavier materials. This needle lets you work with heavier materials due to how it is made. A packing needle has a larger, thicker base.
