Step1
Leave your loyalty at the door. Yes, it's more comfortable when you've established a relationship with your stylist. However, once you become a regular, you probably won't be offered too many discounts. Look for deals in mail flyers, TV and radio commercials and through word of mouth.
Step2
Register for your salon's email list to learn whenever the salon runs a special on services or products. If your salon doesn't offer this, suggest that they start.
Step3
Alternate hair services. Rather than getting your hair cut and colored each time you visit the salon, have the coloring done every other cut. If your hair is healthy and doesn't require much heat styling, have it cut every other visit and keep up on the color.
Step4
Have your stylist give you a weave instead of an all-over coloring. Re-growth is less obvious with a weave, so you can stretch your visits out a bit further.
Step5
Go to school. Companies like Aveda and Vidal Sassoon often run cosmetology schools in which apprentices cut hair for members of the public. You can usually receive discounted salon service at these schools. Check out the company's websites for locations near you.
