How to Raise Money for a Mission Trip

You want to make a difference, so you decide to register for the mission trip that you church is sponsoring. Now you have to raise enough money to help cover your expenses.

Instructions

    • 1

Get support from your church. The church often has fund raising ideas in place to help you raise the money you need for your mission trip.

    • 2

Sell candy bars. There are places that sell candy bars for a reduced rate so you can sell them for a dollar and make a profit. You can sell these to friends, family, at work or at school. Ask you friends and family members to help.

    • 3

Compose a letter to send to family and friends about your trip. If every person you know just kicked in $10, you would probably have enough for your mission trip.

    • 4

Call or write corporations. Some corporations have programs that donate money to organizations and individuals each year.

    • 5

Sell 50-50 tickets. You could buy or make tickets and sell them. Half the cash is given away as prize money and the rest goes to your trip.

    • 6

Hold a car wash. This is another great way to raise that money you need with very little overhead on your part.

    • 7

Sell your services. Use your computer to make fliers and offer to do chores for cash. Let people know why you need the money. Pass these out, especially to your fellow parishioners.

    • 8

Ask the head of your church to include a request for sponsors for you and anyone else going on the trip in the materials he distributes on Sundays. If you have church clubs, ask the leaders if you can attend a meeting and solicit support.
