Step 1
Check to make sure that it is an ingrown hair on your face. Many people mistake pimples or other skin irritations as ingrown hairs. To check, look to see if you notice the hair below the skin's surface and if the area feels full of pus.
-
Step 2
Purchase an ingrown hair treatment to use on the area (see Resources). These products exfoliate the area and get rid of ingrown hairs and other skin irritations.
-
Step 3
Place a warm washcloth on the area. This reduces the swelling and softens the area around the ingrown hair. You can then use tweezers to pull out the ingrown hair.
-
Step 4
Wash your face after any type of treatment for the ingrown hair. This ensure that the area stays clean and that you avoid an infection.
-
Step 5
Use another method to remove hair. Men have found that avoiding an electric shaver can help rid them of the appearance of ingrown hairs. Electrolysis also will stop ingrown hairs from developing.
