Chromotherapy, also called color therapy, is an alternative therapy that's used to improve mental and physical health as well as treat specific ailments. It's based on Ayurvedic medicine, which links each color to an energy center in the body. When part of the body is diseased or ailing, the appropriate color is applied to it to try to invoke healing and balance.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Schedule an appointment with a chromotherapist or color therapist. A trained chromotherapist applies light and color to areas of the body to balance physical energy. Therapy can be applied directly to an area of the body that is affected by illness.

  2. Step 2

Visit the HolisticOnline website. This site lists ailments and the colors that can be used to alleviate them.

  3. Step 3

Study the chakras, or energy centers, of the body. The body is divided in seven chakras, and each color in the spectrum applies to a chakra.

  4. Step 4

Purchase books about healing with color and items to assist in chromotherapy. Crystals and stones are usually to treat diseases and disorders.

  5. Step 5

Use visualization and color breathing. Breath rhythmically, and visuaize pure white energy projected throughout your body. Begin to concentrate on the healing color that is needed for your condition. Fill yourself with the energy of this color. Continue until you feel that your problem is being healed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Chromotherapy is an alternative or complimentary therapy, and should not be used alone to treat serious ailments. Always seek medical attention if you think you have a disease or health condition.
