Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out the amount of water you need the water wheel planter to accommodate. They are available in 60, 125, 165 and 250 gallon capacities. This is going to be dependent upon the size of holes you're making and the amount of acreage you're cultivating.

  2. Step 2

Determine how many water wheels you need on the water wheel planter. The different models come with anywhere from 1 to 4 water wheels. This should be determined by the size of your land.

  3. Step 3

Choose a water wheel planter with 1 or 2 seats. For large acreage buy a 2 seat water wheel planter so you can share the job with someone else.

  4. Step 4

Decide on the spacing of the water wheels before you buy. The different models are available with spacing of 60, 72 and 96 inches. This should be decided by the proximity of the plants to each other.

  5. Step 5

Pick the dimensions for the plant punch. They are available in 1.5-by-2 inches, 2-by-3 inches, 2.5-by-4 inches, 3-by-5 inches and you can also special order other sizes if needed. You will need a larger or smaller punch depending upon what you are planting. Some plants may need to be planted deeper or have larger bulbs then others.
