A dive charter can be an amazing experience. Depending on who you charter your dive through you can see vast differences in the areas of the ocean such as the emerald coast, ship wrecks and sharks. If you aren't a certified scuba diver you can take lessons (or a refresher course if you're certified) just before the dive.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn how to dive before taking a dive charter. Usually the place that you choose to take a dive charter will also teach you to dive for an additional fee. It can be taught in one or two sessions.

  2. Step 2

Find a dive center that offers a charter you're interested in. There are large numbers of locations that go to a variety of interesting places. You can choose to take a charter that dives with the sharks or visits the coral reefs.

  3. Step 3

Select a destination for your dive charter and inquire about including it in a vacation package. Dive charters are offered in a variety of locations from Alaska to the Virgin Islands as well as international destinations depending on your interests and travel itinerary.

  4. Step 4

Recruit other friends and family members to go with you. Most dive centers offer discounts for groups of people. The more the merrier, but if you can't find a group of people you need at least one other person because you have to dive with a buddy.

  5. Step 5

Bring your own dive gear and tanks. They are not included in the price of the dive charter. If you don't own any scuba gear you can rent dive equipment for an additional cost.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to take a logged dive at least every twelve months or you will have to renew your certification. You can do this through the dive charter or through lessons.
