Dandruff is annoying. It itches and makes beautiful hair look horrible. Chemical shampoos and dandruff treatments are expensive and often only make the problem worse, as they destroy the natural protective oils that your hair and scalp create to prevent dandruff. This simple mint dandruff treatment is fast, easy effective and will cost less than anything you can buy in a bottle.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 1/2 apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. liquid eucalyptus castile soap
  • 8 to 10 drops mint essential oil
  1. Step 1

Combine 1/2 cup distilled water and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar. Wet your hair thoroughly and rinse with the mixture, massaging into your scalp. Allow to set for at least 15 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Add 8 to 10 drops of mint essential oil to 2 tbsp. liquid eucalyptus castile soap. After rinsing the water and apple cider vinegar from your hair, apply the eucalyptus soap and mint oil mixture as you would a normal shampoo. Lather and allow to set for 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Rinse your hair in lukewarm water and towel dry. Repeat this treatment at least three times a week until the dandruff subsides.

  4. Step 4

Put a squeeze of fresh lemon to your natural mint dandruff treatment to further clean pores and prevent dandruff. Lemon is a natural astringent that can help remove oily build-up and hair product residues.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always wash your hair in lukewarm water, as hot water can strip the hair and scalp of natural oils that prevent dandruff build-up.
  • Blow drying your hair can dry your scalp, causing dandruff. If you must blow dry, hold the dryer at least 10 inches from your scalp.
  • Dandruff is contagious so never share combs, brushes, towels or pillows with others. Your mint and eucalyptus soap treatment can be used to disinfect brushes and combs as well. Simply add the mixture to warm water and soak overnight.
  • Mint and eucalyptus will not only a natural dandruff treatment, it will stimulate the circulation of blood to the scalp, improving hair growth.
