How to Make any Kind of Juice With a Blender

Fresh juices are an important part of a healthy diet. You can make virtually any kind of juice with your blender, and what's more, a blender won't separate the healthy fiber found in the peels and pulp of fruits and vegetables, as a commercial juicer might. The fiber that exists in these important parts helps regulate the absorption of sugar, vitamins and minerals.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Blender
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Fine mesh strainer
Step1
Wash your fruits and vegetables well before juicing. Remove the peels if you are going to make juice from fruits or vegetables with thick, inedible peels, such as cucumber, pineapple or banana.
Step2
Cut the fruits and vegetables and remove large seeds. You can separate the seeds from fruits such as raspberries or strawberries with a strainer. Larger seeds, such as those found in papaya, oranges or apples, should be removed before blending.
Step3
Add the chopped fruits and vegetables to the blender, along with a small amount of water. Some fruits, such as pineapple, contain enough juice that your blender can easily blend the fruit without added water. However, this will depend on the ripeness of the fruit, the strength of your blender and your personal taste.
Step4
Strain the juice through a fine strainer to remove seeds and pulp can't be juiced. Use a large spoon to mash the pulp and push the juice through the strainer's meshing. Other fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, starfruit and kiwi need not be strained at all.
Step5
Add sugar or honey to sweeten the juice if desired. In most cases, the natural sweet juice is perfect as it is. Apple is one of the sweetest fruits, and is therefore ideal for adding natural sugar to your juice mix.

Tips & Warnings

  • Blend tomatoes, celery and cucumber for the perfect soup base.
  • Most juices can be kept in the refrigerator for a day or two. Simply mix with a spoon, pour and drink.
  • In some cases, such as with pineapples, carrots and raspberries, you can add the pulp to the blender with a bit more water and yield another round of sweet juice.
  • When blending citrus fruits such as mandarins, lemons or oranges, make only one serving as the pulp will quickly turn bitter.
