How to Make a Porno Movie

To produce adult movies for your own private viewing, you do not need to have any kind of legal documentation. These are considered "home" movies and are legal. You are just not allowed to sell or distribute them. Once you start doing this, you enter the realm of "adult films" and must be extremely careful to adhere to legal guidelines in the creation of such "art."

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an agent that sells or distributes adult movies. Use one of the major distributors such as Elegant Angel, VCA, Evil Angel, Vivid, Rain, the Evil Empire, JP, Wave or Metro. These each have production companies of their own and may buy independent series or movies and distribute them.

  2. Step 2

Sign a contract with a distributor that requires that you have a license to distribute and make materials. Contact the local government to find out what you need to do to obtain one or even if you need one.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you keep valid and printed documents that indicate the age, consent and willingness of everyone in your production. You must have proof that they are over the age of 18.

  4. Step 4

Assure that you put all the records about the production in a safe place and store them where you can get to them if needed in case legal issues arise.

  5. Step 5

Locate an adult industry attorney. Largely located in California, most of these lawyers do not list this specialty service so you may have to call several attorneys to ask if they cover this type of law. Inquire at the studio and with the actors for a referral to one of these specialized lawyers.

  6. Step 6

Understand that many companies are nervous about purchasing movies that feature new girls because of the fear that the girls are underage and the documentation has been forged. Such things can topple the adult film world.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be original and come up with something special that makes your film stand out. Try making a demo tape and shopping it around prior to sinking any big money into the actors or the film itself.
