Some degree of vaginal discharge is normal; however, discharge from vaginal infection, inflammation or following the use of antibiotics can have a strong odor, yellow color and uncomfortable itching. Abnormal vaginal discharge can be treated with expensive over-the-counter creams or prescription medications, but natural home treatments with herbal medicine can be faster acting, less expensive and chemical free.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 tsp. sage
  • 1/2 tsp. mullein
  • 1/2 tsp. raspberry leaf
  • 1/4 tsp. goldenseal root
  • 2 tbsps. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 drop tea tree oil
  • Echinacea and goldenseal capsules or tincture
  1. Step 1

Drink herbal medicine tea made from sage, mullein, raspberry leaf and goldenseal root and drink three times a day. Boil 4 cups of water and remove from heat. Add the herbs and allow them to steep for five minutes before straining and drinking. This recipe makes enough tea for one day.

  2. Step 2

Make an herbal medicine douche by mixing 1/2 ounce of the above tea with 2 tbsps. of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of natural yogurt and 1 drop of tea tree oil. Using the recipe above, steep all of the herbs in one quart of water for an hour and strain. Add the other ingredients and place the liquid in a douche bag once cool. Use the douche every other day until vaginal discharge subsides.

  3. Step 3

Take Echinacea and goldenseal capsules or tincture as directed by the manufacturer's instructions. The herbal medicines Echinacea and goldenseal are bactericidal and will soothe and heal the inflammation that causes vaginal discharge.
