Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Decide whether you want to use a desk or tabletop model. Another option is to install the recognition system onto a wall.
Step2
Register your equipment through the software provided with your new optical scanner. Each person you will want to authorize entrance to your building will need to go through an initial registration using the same software.
Step3
Mark the floor about 5 feet from the scanner and instruct people to stand on the mark. Most iris recognition software will work from 3 to 9 feet, but it is best to put a mark on the floor so people know where to stand to ensure a good reading. You can make the mark closer if you don't have enough room in the lobby or hallway where the camera is mounted.
Step4
Mount the optical reader next to the door that you want to control about 65 inches from the floor. Cut a hole in the wall and place the unit so that part is sticking out in the hallway and part is through the other side. Follow the instructions and place the camera in the hallway and the controls for the door inside the room to be entered. Attach the wires to the locking system.
Step5
Caulk any opening left after the installation. You will want a tight fit so that the unit cannot be tampered with.
Step6
Appoint a person to use the monitor, which will detect the iris recognition. While the unit will operate the door independently of the operator, you will need someone in your office to manage the software and to respond to any errors if they occur.
