Things You'll Need:
- Wooden butterfly or Wing Chun swords
- Wooden dummy or partner
-
Step 1
Use the rest of your body to move while keeping your arms steady. Swords should be facing out towards your opponent, to keep him at bay, and never in towards yourself. Relying on the rest of your body to move without the assistance of your arms improves your body torque and footwork.
-
Step 2
Focus on the your arm muscles as they contract and relax. The flexing in your wrists, forearms and hands will strengthen the muscles in your arms.
-
Step 3
Work on the eight offensive moves. Jut do, Huen do and Biu do involve snapping, circling and thrusting the swords at your opponent. Each offensive move requires a different action.
-
Step 4
Review the five defensive moves. Taan do is a blocking manuever with the swords, and Pak do is pushing the swords. Study all five cuts.
-
Step 5
Learn the moves that are both defensive and offensive. There are four total. Jon do is a posture stance before a fight. Quan do, Gaan jaam do and Sarng jaam do are the other cuts you should know.
