Step 1
Fill the bag. Because kickboxing strikes involve using extremely powerful kicks and knee strikes, it's best if you fill the bag with a very heavy fill. Try using sand instead of water to fill the base of the bag. Even though sand will be more difficult to empty, when the time comes, the extra weight of the material will keep the bag upright against even your strongest kicks.

Step 2
Do repetitive kick drills. One of the biggest advantages of the Wavemaster bag is that it rebounds from a strike. Take advantage of this property by doing fast kick sequences to hone your kicking accuracy and to push your high intensity training capability. This kind of drilling with the Wavemaster will give you noticeable gains in kickboxing within weeks.

Step 3
Work the knee strikes. Unlike a hanging bag, you can use the Wavemaster to simulate knee-to-chest or knee-to-head kickboxing strikes. Get into a knee striking distance and put your hands on the top of the bag, as you would an opponent's head, and pull down as you strike with the knee. This will give you an excellent simulation of kickboxing strikes.

Step 4
Move dynamically. The motion of the Wavemaster bag allows you to move around the bag as it rebounds and wobbles on its base. Work sequences into your drilling with the bag and step around the bag as you strike to improve your footwork and response speed. If you find the bag is a little bit sluggish, empty some of the base filler material.
