Treat Skin Conditions With Tea Tree Oil

For ages, people in Australia have revered the tea tree for its healing and medicinal purposes. Around the 1920s, it was discovered that the oils extracted from the tree held special medicinal abilities. Since then, tea tree oil has been widely distributed and used for cosmetic purposes as well as skin conditions. Here is how to treat skin conditions with tea tree oil.

Instructions

    • 1

Treat small cuts and scrapes by cleaning the affected area thoroughly and applying a liberal amount of tea tree oil with a cotton ball or swab. Cover with an adhesive bandage if necessary. The oil contains natural antiseptics which will help the area heal.

    • 2

Wash your face and apply tea tree oil directly to pimples and blemishes twice daily to help them clear. Its natural antibiotic properties make it useful in the treatment of mild acne.

    • 3

Treat blisters with tea tree oil by cleaning the affected area and directly applying the oil. This will help to prevent the blister from becoming infected.

    • 4

Soften calluses by mixing a few drops of tea tree oil with almond, olive, or grapeseed oil (approx. 1 ounce). Massage this oil mixture into the affected area twice daily. When the callused skin is removed, clean the area and apply a couple of drops of tea tree oil. Cover with an adhesive bandage.

    • 5

Use a shampoo with at least a five percent infusion of tea tree oil to treat dandruff. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil to your everyday shampoo for this effect.

    • 6

Disinfect chigger bites by dipping a cotton swab into tea tree oil and applying directly to bites.

    • 7

Apply tea tree oil with a cotton swab, when you feel the onset of a cold sore. This can help to ease pain and reduce healing time.
