You can spend time sitting in the sun and enjoying the picnic food, but don't forget to plan a day of activities especially if children are attending.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plan to have crafts for children to do. You can buy paper and crayons for coloring or cut-outs and glue for card making. Provide paper, scissors and glue so kids can use their creativity to make things of their choice.

  2. Step 2

Set up teams for various sports. You can play baseball, soccer or volleyball. Divide the teams evenly or split them into male and female. The teams will have fun competing with each other.

  3. Step 3

Provide water toys if you are going to be near a swimming pool or at a beach. Plan water games like swimming races and frisbee.

  4. Step 4

Set up an area for regular games. You can play board games like scrabble or cards. Have games for all ages to play together and games especially for the kids. You can also play relay games, tag and catch.

  5. Step 5

Have lawn activities for groups to play like golfing, mini putting, croquet, lawn bowling, lawn darts, horseshoes and ring toss.

  6. Step 6

Schedule the day so picnic participants have activities to look forward all day. You can space the activities out so that there are team events before and after the picnic meal. Make sure you include time to rest and time to eat.

  7. Step 7

Tell people about the activities ahead of time. Let them know how they should dress and what time you are planning various events.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask other participants for activity suggestions.
  • Visit picnic websites for more information.
  • Don't plan too many events or people won't enjoy the day.
