The decision to be buried or cremated after death is something everyone will face at some point. If you decide that you wish to be cremated after death or you are honoring the wishes of a loved one who has passed away, then you will need to find a crematorium that will handle this process for you and your family. The following guidelines will make the search to find a crematorium a little easier. Read on to learn how to find a crematorium.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Contact the funeral director in your community or a funeral home that your family has entrusted with burial needs in the past. Many funeral homes offer both traditional funeral needs and cremation services.

  2. Step 2

Look in your local phone directory for cremation services or funeral homes that provide the cremation services.

  3. Step 3

Talk to your minister, pastor, priest or rabbi for referrals to a cremation service. These are excellent people to talk with as they have had numerous opportunities to meet and work with the directors and staff at these cremation and funeral home facilities.

  4. Step 4

Ask friends, neighbors and coworkers for names of cremation facilities that they would recommend. It is always good to have a personal recommendation from someone who has already had to deal with the situation of cremation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask the various cremation facilities for a list of services and fees pertaining to the cremation just as you would price services for funeral and burial needs. Don't be hesitant to ask for explanations of the services if you are not clear on them.
