Women that decide to moonlight as a cocktail waitress need to go into this job with their eyes wide open. It may look easy, but that couldn't be any further from the truth. Even at that, moonlighting as a cocktail waitress is a terrific way to earn extra money. Use the following guidelines to help prepare you to moonlight as a cocktail waitress.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Learn the various types of cocktail drinks, beers, wines and hard liquors that are most common. Knowing these should be considered a "must" in order to be good at moonlighting as a cocktail waitress.
Step2
Show your ability to multi-task and tolerate many orders being thrown at you at one time. Most cocktail waitresses are in restaurants or bars. Usually, the later in the night it becomes, the rowdier and more demanding the customers may become. Cocktail waitresses must focus on the orders no matter how distracting the other things going on around have become.
Step3
Make change and handle charge transactions efficiently and quickly.
Step4
Keep your appearance clean and neat. Most restaurants and some bars will require certain cocktail waitress uniforms to be worn. Keep your uniform clean and pressed. Your hair should always be clean and styled so that you are not touching your hair while waiting on customers. Patrons in restaurants and bars do not appreciate being waited on by a cocktail waitress who does not appear clean.
Step5
Remember to keep a pleasant, friendly tone with patrons. This is one job where it is fine to laugh and interact with your customers, according to the guidelines of your particular employer and as long as it only enhances your appeal.
Step6
Put a smile on your face. Smiles are an important part of your job. A smile or lack of one could make the difference in a great tip or none at all. Tips are how most cocktail waitresses make the most of their income, so grin and bear it.

Tips & Warnings

  • A tolerance or ability to handle unwanted flirting, some times inappropriate comments and even inappropriate groping is something that is unfortunately needed.
