Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Design signs from wood or aluminum that celebrate special events. For example, design a stork in blue and another in pink that announce the birth of a baby boy or girl. Make a birthday cake sign that celebrates a person's birthday.
Step2
Purchase a yard business starter kit that has prefabricated yard signs if you are unwilling or unable to design your own. These are copyrighted signs so don't attempt to make replicas of them.
Step3
Think of a name to call your yard sign business. This business name and phone number should appear on your yard signs so that an individual who would also like the sign can contact you.
Step4
Advertise your yard sign business. You can advertise in the newspaper, on billboards, in the Yellow Pages, on Craigslist and through fliers. Offer fliers for your specialty signs in hospital maternity wards, bakeries and flower shops.
Step5
Start a webpage. Most people will look online when they're looking for a specific, niche business in their neighborhood.
