1
Buy a crown. Although you can make your own crown, it's not difficult to find a cheap crown at a costume store that will look more realistic. If you choose to make a crown, just buy some gold card stock or heavy paper and cut out a crown shape. Staple together the ends to form a circle that you can sit on top of your head.

Remember to include a scepter. A scepter is a heavily decorated staff-like object made of precious metal. Tape together a couple of paper towel cardboard rolls to create a staff. Then, buy some gold foil and cover the rolls with it. Decorate the scepter with fake jewels--simply cut out various shapes from brightly colored construction paper and paste them onto the foil.

3
Wear a tunic over your clothes. You can make a tunic easily by purchasing a brown T-shirt that's a few sizes too big and cutting off the sleeves.

4
Use a length of purple or red velvet material to create a robe that you'll wear over the tunic. Attach thick string or ribbon to one end of the material and use it to tie the robe around your neck.

5
Enlist the help of a female friend to dress up as your queen. All of her clothing should be gold; use gold face and body paint to color her skin gold too. Tell people that you touched her and she turned to gold.
