Step 1
Turn on the camera by pressing and holding in the round button at the top. Note the slider on the back of the camera with the play icon at the bottom and the camera at the top. Move the slider up to take pictures and down to view your pictures.

Take a picture by holding the big button on top of the camera down halfway to focus and then, when you see a sharp picture on the LCD screen, press the button the rest of the way down.

Zoom in by moving the wheel around the shutter button to the right. Zoom out by moving it to the left.

Look at the click wheel at the top of the camera with the little icons on it. The icons represent the various modes the Canon Powershot A95 has. Auto is the automatic setting, the face is for portraits, the mountain is for landscape photography, the person with the star is for night photography, the ball with the motion lines is for action shots and the movie camera is used to record video.

Move the click wheel to the "M" to use the camera's manual settings. Press the "FUNC" button on the side of the camera to change the camera's manual settings. Use the arrows keys to move up and down the settings.

Try changing some manual settings to get the most out of your Canon Powershot A95. The lightening bolt sets how bright your flash is and the ISO speed makes your camera less sensitive to light at the lower numbers and more sensitive to light at the higher numbers. Change the white balance to daylight, cloudy, tungsten or fluorescent based on the light conditions.

Change the shutter speed to lengthen or shorten the exposure. Go to the manual mode on the camera and press the "Set" button on the side of the camera. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the shutter speed up in down. The shutter speed is shown in seconds and the quicker the shutter speed the sharper your picture will be; the longer the shutter speed is, the brighter your picture will be.
