Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 lbs. sweet potatoes
  • Baking dish
  • Butter
  • Pancake syrup
  1. Step 1

Wash the sweet potatoes well and peel then. Then slice into about ¼-inch slices.

  2. Step 2

Coat the inside of a baking dish with a thin layer of butter to help with clean up and then arrange the sweet potato slices along the bottom of the dish.

  3. Step 3

Carefully dab a bit of butter on the top of each slice and place in a preheated oven at 375. Allow these to cook for approximately 45 minutes or until fork-tender, and then remove from the oven.

  4. Step 4

Take the pancake syrup and drizzle a bit on the top of each slice. Carefully turn each slice over and drizzle some of the syrup on the other side.

  5. Step 5

Return the baking dish to the oven and allow to cook until the syrup is bubbling and slightly browned. Remove from the oven and they are ready to serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • This recipe can be changed up by adding various items to the base recipe. Baked sweet potatoes always go well with marshmallows and brown sugar. You can try adding a small amount of chopped walnuts or pecans to give it a bit of crunchiness. To give it a little different flavor boost you might try adding lemon or orange zest, raisins or even dried cranberries.
