Floating candles are small candles that are shaped like a bowl. The tops are wider than the bottoms. It's the one time water and fire mix--and do they ever! Floating candles look gorgeous glittering in a bowl of water. Imagine it now--it's Christmas and your table is set with a stunning bowl of floating candles. Your guests will love it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blended wax
  • Metal container
  • Metal saucepan
  • Candle scent
  • Eyedropper
  • Small mold, larger at top than bottom
  • Wick
  1. Step 1

Melt the wax. Place it in a metal container, such as a metal measuring cup or tin can. Set that container inside a shallow pot of boiling water. Turn on the stove burner and allow the wax to melt.

  2. Step 2

Drop some scent into the melted wax. Use an eyedropper or spoon, being careful to only put a few drops in. Keep a record of how many drops you use, so you know for next time.

  3. Step 3

Pour the wax into molds carefully. Let the candles cool until there is a thin layer formed on top.

  4. Step 4

Stick a small piece of trimmed wick into the center of the candle. Make sure it is sitting upright. After each candle has its own wick, allow to cool completely.

  5. Step 5

Pop the candles out of the mold. Trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch.

  6. Step 6

Put the floating candle into your bowl, wineglass or other container.

Tips & Warnings
