The Christmas season brings good cheer, good times and good food. If you are in charge of picking food for the office Christmas party, there are several things to consider. Give some careful thought to this event and feast well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a poll of your fellow office mates, unless the boss has already mandated what kind of party and food he wants. Ask for party food preferences. Part of the fun of the office Christmas party is helping all the employees to relax, have fun and enjoy the fruits of a long year of productive labor in the workforce. Find out if they want casual, semi-formal or formal kinds of food. Ask the boss if this is just for employees or if spouses/others are included.

  2. Step 2

Figure your budget once you've taken a head count and decided on what type of food. If your boss has given you a certain amount to work with, then be sure to stay within that budget amount. Some companies take up Christmas party donations to help. Plan carefully so that you have no surprises when it's time to pay the bill. Don't forget to figure in beverages, unless someone else is taking care of that part of the party.

  3. Step 3

Plan for a variety of finger foods if your office has chosen to go casual style. Go for sandwich spirals in chicken salad, pimento cheese or ham salad. Raw vegetable platters that include veggies in Christmas colors such as green peppers, red peppers, celery, tomatoes, pickles and olives are always fun and welcomed by the health conscious party-goers. Bite-size quiche is always a good option for finger foods. Of course, chips and dip, pretzels and plenty of Christmas cookies, pies and cakes are a must.

  4. Step 4

Pick a buffet-style assortment of food for an office Christmas party if you go semi-formal style. The festive meats such as turkey, ham and roast beef always work well. The buffet should include a variety of vegetables such as green beans, red potatoes and other favorites.

  5. Step 5

Go all out for a formal style Christmas party if your budget can handle it. A catered meal that includes meats such as steak, lamb or prime rib fits the bill for formal parties. Salads and vegetable casseroles are usually served with this type of fare.
