The favorite basketball stars from our youth have faded but the memories remain. Following those stars not only meant cheering them on but also collecting their images on basketball cards. Those cards from long ago are now worth some money. How much depends on many factors. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine the condition of the basketball card. The better condition the card is in the more value it has. A local card collectibles shop should be able to tell a person the condition of the basketball card. There are companies that specialize in certification for a fee. Use caution when paying for these services because not all these companies are reputable.
Step2
Ascertain the year the card was printed. The older a card the more valuable it is.
Step3
Find out if the basketball card is from the players' rookie year. Rookie cards are usually the most valuable of the card from a player's career.
Step4
Establish if the card was from a limited collection. The rarer a card is the more in demand it is. Limited sets usually have a designation on the card itself.
Step5
Locate a pricing guide for the basketball card. The pricing guides will give a collector an estimate of the value of a basketball card.
Step6
Find an Internet auction site that sells basketball cards. This will give the collector a better idea of the demand for a specific basketball card.
