How to Make a Bicycle Sound Like a Motorcycle

If your best friend just got a Harley and you're still on a Schwinn, you can at least make your bicycle sound a little like her motorcycle. Though you won't fool anyone into believing that you're really a motorcycle coming down the street, you'll get some satisfaction from being a least a little louder than the average bike. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Clip a plastic coated playing card to the wheel frame with a clothes pin. Make certain that the card can touch the spokes to make the noise desired. Use at least two cards, one clipped to each side, for additional sound. Find cards that match the color of your bicycle and use a matching metal clip to disguise it well.

  2. Step 2

Buy a Spokester, a small piece of plastic connected to a plastic piece that clamps over the wheel fork. When you attach the Spokester to your bicycle, make sure the plastic comes in contact with the spoke. Add more for more noise. If you want the noise to cease, turn the paddle away from the spokes until it no longer can contact them

  3. Step 3

Use your mobile phone and a special, small computer attached to your bicycle to create a motorcycle sound. The computer is available through Sound of Motion, and also allows you to track data about your ride.

  4. Step 4

Practice saying "Varoom, Varoom" until you have a thoroughly believable noise. As you ride your bicycle say it at the top of your lungs. People may stare, but if you can picture yourself riding a Harley, it makes it so believable, if only to you.
