Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check into the Omni Royal Orleans hotel at 621 Saint Louis St. at Royal St. where luxury accommodations include a private balcony overlooking the shops and galleries of Royal Street. Take tea in the lobby and admire the crystal chandeliers, gilded furniture and vast expanses of marble that recall an era gone by.

  2. Step 2

Ask the concierge to call Good Old Day Carriages and arrange a horse-drawn buggy tour of the French Quarter. Enjoy the tour and return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner.

  3. Step 3

Stroll over to K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen at 416 Chartres St. between Conti and Saint Louis Streets. Take advantage of the daily changing menu of fresh regional ingredients and Chef Paul Prudhomme's famous recipes.

  4. Step 4

Stop off after dinner at Maxwell's Toulouse Cafe at 615 Toulouse St. between Chartres and Royal. Enjoy after-dinner drinks or coffee and be serenaded by the likes of Jimmy Maxwell, Harry Connick, Jr. or the Dukes of Dixieland. Retire to the hotel and relax in the whirlpool bath before slipping between Irish linen sheets.

  5. Step 5

Enjoy breakfast in bed or give into the lure of city's most decadent jazz brunch at the Court of Two Sisters at 613 Royal Street. Relax in the romantic courtyard setting that was once the notions shop of sisters Emma and Bertha Camors.

  6. Step 6

Return to the hotel for a swim in the rooftop pool. Take in views of the French Quarter, the city and the Mississippi River. Spend the afternoon browsing the galleries and shops along Royal Street. Chow down on seafood at Ralph and Kacoo's at 519 Toulouse St.

  7. Step 7

Have dinner at Bella Luna at 914 N. Peters St., voted the most romantic restaurant in the city. Enjoy the eclectic menu and take in the sweeping views of the river. Stroll along Decatur Street and end up at Jackson Square for a look at the work of local artists. Finish the evening at O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub at 514 Toulouse where Celtic music is a nightly affair.
