How to Sell Tickets Above Face Value

Many event organizers allow people to buy and resell tickets to others for a profit. Sometimes people resell tickets as a way to make money and other times they buy a ticket, decide not to attend the event and want to get rid of the ticket, while pocketing a little profit if possible.

1. Decide which events will have a following or will sell out. These will be the tickets that will have the most value in the end, because there will definitely be people looking to buy a seat or a better seat at almost any price.
2. Try to order tickets online the minute they go on sale. Be sure to have your credit card on hand, as you are usually limited on the amount of time that the system will "hold" the seats while you purchase them.
3. Secure the best seats possible. The better seats you get, the more you will be able to sell them for. You will also be able to sell ordinary seats for a profit if the event has sold out.
4. Auction them on eBay. This is a great way to reach many buyers at once. Remember, some people follow musical artists and bands around the country and the only way to reach these out-of-town attendees is via the Internet.
5. Sell your tickets outside of venue the day of the event to those who can't get tickets or those who want a better seat. This can backfire if you don't sell the ticket or allow you to sell it for even more to someone who is panicking about getting into the show before it starts.

• Some states such as Missouri have laws that prohibit you from selling tickets above face value unless you include another tangible item for sale along with the tickets.
