Norwich Terriers are tiny, compactly built dogs with tiny, yet strong, legs. They are outgoing, headstrong dogs that seem to think they are ten times as large as they are. Norwich Terriers have straight, wiry coats which come in a variety of colors including red, wheaten, tan, black and tan and grizzle.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Slicker brush
  • Natural bristle brush
  • Metal combs
  • #14 blade
  • Thinning shears
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Brush out the coat daily with a slicker brush, natural bristle brush and metal combs. The flat, solid coat of the Norwich Terrier lies close to the body with little to no fluffiness or volume. The hair around the neck is longer than on the rest of the body. The coat is water resistant and this breed is a light shedder.

  2. Step 2

Use a #15 blade and clippers to trim the sides of the ears. Make final touches with scissors if you desire. The ears should have a symmetrical and tidy appearance.

  3. Step 3

Use thinning shears to clean up areas of the coat that have grown thicker than others. The coat should be fairly uniform in length on the body, but longer on the neck and shorter on the head and ears. Leave chest area full and natural.

  4. Step 4

Bathe and shampoo when necessary. Like most dogs, the Norwich Terrier's skin becomes dried out if you bathe them too frequently. There are no particulars about this dog's coat when it comes to specialized shampoos--just look for a quality, affordable dog shampoo.
