Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Lavender essential oil
- Cotton balls
- Cool compresses
- Water
- Squirt bottle
Step1
Dab lavender essential oil gently to the burn, using a cotton ball or your fingers. Most experts agree that lavender essential oil does not need to be diluted with carrier oil.
Step2
Try a cool bath or immersing the burn in cool water. Add a few drops of lavender to the water and soak the area for 15 minutes.
Step3
Put a drop of lavender essential oil in a cool compress and put over the burn. Apply fresh compresses every 15 minutes.
Step4
Dribble a few drops of lavender essential oil in a spray bottle full of cool water. Spray the burn with your squirt bottle, especially if the burn is too tender to touch or apply a cool compress.

on 1/22/2008 Last night I managed to burn myself with boiling water. I immediately applied a cold pack for several minutes and started saturating sterile gauze and Curad Teflon pads with 100% Lavender essential oil since there was no way for me to apply the cold pack to all of the burned areas on my arm. I applied the Teflon pads and wrapped my arm with the gauze to hold the pads in place. After an hour the pain was just about gone. The next morning revealed slightly red and slightly swollen skin in the burned areas. I repeated the process also applying antibiotic cream with the Lavender soaked pads. By noon the burned areas were no longer red or swollen. I have been familiar with the use of Lavender for burns for many years but was never inclined to try it because of my success with cold packs applied for long periods of time to prevent minor burns from blistering. Using Lavender truly works.
