Alternative health-care has been growing in this country as it has in most of the rest of the world. The vast wealth of information available from areas such as natural herbs, essential oils and folk medicine often has better treatments for common ailments than traditional medical knowledge does. Skin inflammation is a troublesome malady and often can be solved with treatment by natural methods rather than antibiotics or pharmaceutical creams.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Water
    • Patchouli oil
    • Safflower oil
    • Cotton balls
    • Soft rag
    • Aloe based moisturizing cream
      • 1

Add 20 to 30 drops of patchouli oil in a vial with about 1 oz. of a light carrier oil such as almond oil or safflower oil.

      • 2

Clean your skin thoroughly with soap and water and pat dry. Using a cotton ball carefully apply the oil blend to the skin and gently rub it into the skin. Allow to sit for about 15 minutes to soak up some of the oils. These will serve to moisten your skin as well as get the patchouli to the irritated skin.

      • 3

Use a clean cotton ball or soft rag wipe the excess oil off the skin. Do not scrub the skin as you may cause further irritation.

      • 4

Apply an aloe based moisturizing cream to the region of irritation and gently rub it into the skin and allow it to absorb through the skin.

      • 5

Repeat these steps at least 3 times a day until the skin irritation is gone.
