Chicago's O'Hare International Airport strikes fear in many a weary traveler because of the sheer size of the place. Getting around is difficult and time consuming if you don't know exactly where you are going. Take the fear out of navigating through this large and busy airport by keeping the following tips in mind.

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need:

  • Map of Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
  1. Step 1

Get a map of the airport. These can be found at O'Hare or at websites such as Gofox.com where you can print terminal maps to take on your travels.

  2. Step 2

Identify Terminal One. Concourses B and C are in Terminal One. Airlines for this terminal are United Airlines domestic and international departures, Ted Airlines, United Express check-ins and baggage claims and Lufthansa departures only.

  3. Step 3

Recognize Terminal Two. Concourses F and E are in this terminal. You will find the following airlines at Terminal Two: Continental, Continental Express, Northwest, Jet Blue, US Airways and US Airways Express.

  4. Step 4

Become familiar with Terminal Three. Concourses G, H, K and L are in this terminal, along with the following airlines: Alaska, American, American Eagle, Delta, Delta Connection, Iberia and Spirit.

  5. Step 5

Identify Terminal Five. Concourse M is in this terminal and it is where the majority of international airlines are found. Airlines include Aer Lingus, Aero Mexico, Air France, Air India, Nippon Airways, Asiana, British Airways, Korean Air, KLM Royal Dutch, Air Jamaica and Alitalia.

Tips & Warnings
  • Arrive early so you will have plenty of time to park, go through security checks and find your concourse and terminal.
  • Keep your passport, identification and tickets in one, easy-to-reach place. You will need to produce them several times and if you become flustered because you can't find them when asked, it will make your time in this enormous airport more difficult.
  • Get to your terminal first before looking for food and drink. Restaurants and cafés are in every terminal, so get to yours and then find a quick snack or beverage.
  • Don't be late. If you are late, you will not be allowed to board your flight and you run the risk of getting lost because you are rushing around the airport.
  • Double-check departures and arrivals. Some airlines handle departures and arrivals at different terminals. When you check-in, ask an airline representative to confirm departure and arrival times so you don't miss the flight.
