Eudora is a simple, free email program which is popular with both Windows and Apple Macintosh users. Although a more advanced version is available for a price, the basic, free version allows you to perform basic email operations. Once you have selected Eudora as your email client, you must know the basics of how to check your email with the program.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Eudora. From the "Tools" menu, select "Options." Here, you'll configure Eudora to work with your email settings.

  2. Step 2

Click on the "Getting Started" tab from the options at the left. Enter the name you would like displayed when you send someone an email, your email address and the user name for your email account, which is usually the same user name you use to sign on to the Internet.

  3. Step 3

Enter your Incoming Mail Server and SMTP Server information where applicable. These will be provided by your email service provider. Contact them if you do not have this information.

  4. Step 4

Move down to the "Checking Email" tab. Tell Eudora how often you would like for it to automatically check your email. Enter "0" if you do not want Eudora to do this.

  5. Step 5

Click the "OK" button to save your changes.

  6. Step 6

Find the "Open in Mailbox" icon at the top of the Eudora window. It is a rectangular blue box. Next, click on the "Check Email" button, which is a rectangular blue box with a yellow envelope over it.

  7. Step 7

Put in your email password when prompted. This is the password you provided to your email service provider when you signed up. Hit the "OK" button. Your new email is downloaded and displayed.

  8. Step 8

Hit the "Check Email" button whenever you want Eudora to download your new email, or let Eudora automatically download your email at the interval you specified.
