How to Find an Ice Climbing Club

With nerves of steel, sport climbers have continually turned to ice climbing in order to up the anty. Ice climbing demands extreme skill and persistence. Joining your local ice climbing group will help smooth the transition from rock to ice.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    To gain access to information for ice climbing in the United States, choose a club with online access like The American Alpine Club.

  2. Step 2

    Visit The American Alpine Club website (see Resources below) and select "Join" on the homepage.

  3. Step 3

    Select "I would like to join" and fill in your appropriate billing and personal information.

  4. Step 4

    Select "Joint membership" if more than one person is joining at one time.

  5. Step 5

    Once the information is entered appropriately, select "Continue" at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to enter your user name and password.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most ice climbing clubs require some form of payment. Be prepared to pay with a credit card online at the time of registration.
  • Joint memberships to The American Alpine Club allow for rescue coverage for ice climbers.
  • If your region contains seasonal ice climbing, your local rock climbing gym may have a smaller, less expensive ice climbing club to join.
