At first I had my "doubts" in this recipe ;) But I think I am now relieved.....I went to WalMart today, and found a "Great Value" brand of Fresh Scent "Color-safe Bleach" (what we consider non-chlorine bleach). Lo-and-behold, it actually listed the INGREDIENTS (some of these soaps and cleaners are extremely vague) - Hydrogen Peroxide, Surfacants, fragrance, colorant. Well, surfacants aren't all that necessary, and can actually be bad, for those on septic systems. As far as fragrance, well, add your own essential oil/fragrance to the above concoccion. Colorant is just something extra to keep the color....but not totally necessary either. So there we have it, our two main ingredients, hydrogen peroxide and Water :P The bottle costed me $3.12 for 66 oz.

Neat idea, though, I don't know how cost-effective. Though, I suppose it is "greener" Hydrogen peroxide can be gotten for 50cents each (16 oz. I think.....not positive) at the local dollar store. Water - I'd opt for distilled, since tap water has contaminants that could interfere. - about 96cents per gallon I think. There's 16 cups in a gallon, half and half would be 8 cups of each. 8 cups of peroxide would require about 4 bottles of peroxide at 50cents a piece (if the 16oz. bottles are 50c...I'm not positive atm). Granted, you wouldn't need a whole gallon, but since I have empty vinegar bottles, it couldn't hurt to pre-mix the solution by the gallons :P We do a lot of laundry with 8 people here lol. Looking online though, liquid non-chlorine bleach is around 4USD, for smallish quantity bottles, and this solution would be made by the gallon :P Sounds like a good d
