How to Make Finger Puppets

Finger puppets are an inexpensive and fun activity for children. You can make very simple finger puppets or elaborate ones depending on the materials you have to work with and the time you plan to devote to the activity. Grab your kids and get started today.

Instructions

1. Print your finger puppet out from a template or create your own finger puppet drawing. However, you can easily make your own finger puppets by drawing a simple animal or human shape.

2. Remember to leave two holes for your fingers. If you draw your own finger puppet, draw two finger-sized holes near the bottom of the image. The two holes provide a place to insert your fingers and they become the legs and feet of your puppet.

3. Cut out your finger puppet and the finger holes. Be sure to stay with the lines of your drawing or cut just outside your lines so that the puppet doesn't shrink. An easy way to cut out finger holes is to fold across the middle of the circle and use your scissors to cut out the middle.

4. Decorate your finger puppet to your liking. Use markers, crayons, paints, glitter and other craft materials to make your puppet look like the one you imagined. You might also consider using plastic googly eyes or yarn for hair to bring your puppet to life.
