Step 1
Check with your school to see if they have been alerted about possible scholarships. They will sometimes make it public to the student body by posting it on a bulletin board or in a school paper. You can also ask your guidance counselor about specific scholarships that would be right for you.
-
Step 2
Look in your local public library for scholarship information resources. They may also have a bulletin board, which may contain postings for scholarships by local philanthropists.
-
Step 3
Take an afternoon to visit the colleges and universities in your area to learn about their school-sponsored scholarships or any potential scholarships they may recommend you consider. They may be posted on a bulletin board near the guidance counselor's office or you may want to stop by the admissions office.
-
Step 4
Search online for the best access to national scholarships that you may not have access to elsewhere. The best way to do this is via a scholarship website that will allow you to search for scholarships that meet certain criteria and then allow you to apply for those postings online. This is fast, cheap and will give you the most comprehensive results.
