Installing a planter box on your garden shed can give your shed a special touch of color and beauty and it's easy when you have the right know how. This is a simple plan to beatify your garden shed with pretty wood brackets to support your planter box. Here's how to install a planter box onto your garden shed so you can enjoy it for years to come.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1-inch rot resistant lumber
  • Coping saw
  • Drill and 1/4-inch bit and countersink
  • 3-inch galvanized wood screws
  • 1.5-inch galvanized wood screws

Step1
Select the type of wood you will use. Cedar wood will make your planter box long lasting and beautiful as well.
Step2
Determine how many brackets you will need to support your wood planter box on your garden shed. If your planter is longer than 3 feet, use three brackets for added stability.
Step3
Cut brackets to go under the box to support the weight of the dirt and pots. Make these 7 inches wide at the top to accommodate the width of the box. Make a cardboard template so you can make each one the exact same size and shape. Saw the siding profile into the brackets with a coping saw. This will provide good surface area to attach the brackets.
Step4
Position the brackets where there will provide good support of your planter box. Use a level to align the brackets correctly.
Step5
Smooth all edges with a sanding block.
Step6
Drill and countersink 3-inch screws through the narrow edge of the brackets into the garden shed. Use wood buttons to cover your countersunk holes.
Step7
Set your planter box on the brackets and attach with 1.5-inch wood screws.
