How To

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
-
3/4 inch melamine
-
tacks or small nails
-
and/or heavy duty staple gun
-
wood glue
-
hammer
Step1
Go ahead and check your drawers to see if there are more than one that may need the bottoms replaced. The bottoms can end up getting warped due to normal wear and tear, an abundance of moisture and of course excessive weight being placed in the drawers.
Step2
Measure and cut your 3/4 inch melamine to fit into place, making sure that you have a good fit to match the drawer itself.
Step3
Install the new drawer bottoms with either a hammer and tacks or nails or even a heavy duty staple gun, whichever you may happen to have handy. Extra reinforcement can be added with a good bead of wood glue to help keep the bottom from shifting over time.

on 6/4/2008 Nice advice, if I ever have a sagging drawer, I will use this.

on 6/2/2008 You should make sure you have the right size board. 3/4 inches seems a little thick for a drawer.
