How to make frozen hands for the punch bowl

I love the look on peoples faces when they look into the punch bowl at a Halloween party. There is usually sometime a little off about it, whether that be bugs (fake, of course) or body parts (again, fake, I hope). Check out my variations on different things to float in your punch bowl this season.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

We have all seen the dead floating hand in the punch. Here's my take on it: Fill a plastic (NON-LATEX) glove with 2 1/2 cups of cranberry juice, 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin and a package of frozen raspberries. Tie the end off and set on a bakers sheet and freeze. Once it's frozen, peel off the glove and toss in the punch. The punch I usually use with this consists of 2 L Ginger Ale and 2 L Sparkling Apple Cider. Yummy!

  2. Step 2

If you don't have any plastic gloves around, just use your normal ice trays! Fill the ice trays with your favorite juices and put clean plastic bugs, etc in them and freeze. I find that using raisins also gets the job done pretty well. Once they are thoroughly frozen, pop them into punch bowl.

  3. Step 3

A friend of mine swears by this scary tactic each year. Choose a scary mask and tape all of the opening shut with tape (duct tape works best). Fill in the mask with a fizzy juice or soda (ginger ale, 7UP, Sparkling Apple Cider) and freeze. Right before the party, put your scary ghoul face into the punch and wait for the looks you'll receive!

  4. Step 4

I hope these have been helpful. The most important part is to leave it in the freezer until just before the party starts to get to most use out of your scary creation! Let me know how it turns out!

Tips & Warnings
  • If there isn't a lot of room in your freezer to be taken up by scary hand and face concoctions, just use the ice cube trays. They are still just as effective and space efficient too.
  • Do not using latex gloves! As you probably already know, some people are allergic to latex ... and that's just not a road you want to go down, so be careful; NO LATEX GLOVES!
