Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
You are going to need food.
Make sure you go and buy a couple bags of chips, at the least. When selecting snack foods make sure they aren't too obscure, get the basic snack foods, because then people are more likely to enjoy it. When everyone arrives order a couple pizzas. Make sure to have a lot of soda, and depending on your age, alcohol.
Make sure you have enough food and drink to last the whole party, otherwise it won't be as enjoyable.
Step2
If you are doing a computer game party, make sure you how to work your wireless internet!! Nothing is more annoying than having a bunch of people come over only to find out that you don't know how to work your LAN. It's also good to have any extra computers set up just in case one of your friends computers don't work.
Step3
Have more than one video game system set up. For instance, if you are hosting a Halo party, set up two XBOX's instead of one...then 8 people can play instead of 4. Don't be afraid to ask your friends who are coming to bring their systems, controllers and games.
Step4
Set up a system of playing. Make sure there is some kind of order so people don't feel like they got passed over. Nothing ruines a party for someone if you feel like you've been left out. Make sure everyone gets a turn.
Step5
Tournaments are fun.
If you choose to do a tournament make sure that you keep a low buy-in. A $20 buy-in means that someone will have hurt feeling afterwards. If you have a $5 buy-in or less it guarantees that no one loses too much money and can keep having fun.
You don't want anyone to be left out.
Step6
And last but not least.
BE HUMBLE.
There is a fine line between celebrating a win and making everyone mad. It's amazing how one person can ruin a game night. Don't be the guy who complains every time he loses and don't be the person who rubs it into everyones face when they win.

on 10/24/2007 Good article. If people can't have fun and enjoy the fun and company, they need to be somewhere else.
