Treat Fibrocystic Breast Disease!

Finding a lump in your breast is most women's worst nightmare; so imagine the horror of a woman suffering with fibrocystic breast disease as monthly she finds new lumps and knots in her breasts! Growths of lumps caused by fibrocystic breast disease can usually be managed with the right information.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    What is Fibrocystic Breasts?
Fibrocystic breasts are characterized by lumpiness and usually pain or discomfort in one or both breasts. The condition is very common and most fibrocystic breasts are not cancerous.

  2. Step 2

    What Causes Fibrocystic Breasts?
Normal hormonal variation during the menstrual cycle is the primary contributing factor to fibrocystic breast condition. Fibrocystic breast condition is a cumulative process that mainly affects women over the age of 30. Scientist has described this condition as a complication of the breast inability to discharge the normal hormonal spike each month like a uterus can. The breast prepares for impregnation, but it does not occur. The breast ducts are then damaged from excessive hormones resulting in cyst formation.

  3. Step 3

How do you treat Fibrocystic Breasts?
    Vitamin A
For years caffeine and chocolate have been blamed for this disease, but there has never been a study that substantiated these findings. There are studies that point to vitamins that will help relieve the pain and swelling associated with this condition.
Latest research has pinpointed Vitamin A as being useful in reducing both the painful symptoms and the size of the breast lesions, but Vitamin A can be toxic because it is stored in body tissue. To avoid the risk of side effects do not take vitamin A as a supplement but add it to your diet by eating yellow, orange, red, and dark green fruits and vegetables

  4. Step 4

How do you treat Fibrocystic Breasts?
    Vitamin E
For years vitamin E has been touted as a "natural Viagra" for men, but now the benefits are also being studied for women. Vitamin E is useful in reducing fibrocystic breast discomfort and many PMS symptoms as well. Researchers have now found that vitamin E supplements reduced menopause related hot flashes, fatigue, food cravings and mood swings too!

  5. Step 5

How do you treat Fibrocystic Breasts?
    Evening Primrose
Several studies have looked at the beneficial effects of evening primrose oil on fibrocystic breast disease. Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of the essential fatty acid, linoleic acid, and its chemical derivative, gamma linolenic acid which help balance the hormones.

  6. Step 6

How do you treat Fibrocystic Breasts?
    Iodine
Women deficient in Iodine were found to develop fibrocystic breast disease. Iodine is needed by the body for the production of the thyroid hormone. Lack of adequate thyroid hormone also affects the menstrual cycle. Sea vegetables such as kelp and dulse, found in health food stores, are good sources of iodine. Sea Salt is another good source of iodine!

Tips & Warnings
  • The condition primarily affects women between the ages of 30 and 50 and tends to become less of a problem after menopause.
  • Follow your doctor's recommended mammogram schedule!

on 9/10/2009 Good article. I had trouble with this for years. They also told me it was chocolate (caffeine). When I went through menopause all symptoms stopped. Thank you.
