Have you taken a personality test and said "Wow, that's me" then moved on with your busy life without taking any action to improve yourself? This article shows you a concrete method of taking action based upon the results of your fun personality quiz to fully understand your "True Colors."

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  • Personality Quizzes

Step1
Take the test Take a fun personality test. Why fun? Because it affects your emotions and emotions are what propels you to take action. I remember hearing Tony Robbins, the famous motivational speaker, mention that people naturally go towards pleasure vice pain. So if the personality assessment is done in a humorous or fun way, you are more likely to enjoy the experience and be more aware of personality in your life. So take that test! :) See the resource section below for a fun personality test for a fee.
Step2
What are your strenghts? Wow...you have a picture of your personality. Now what? Look at each of your strengths from the report. Pick out 1 - 3 of those traits and think about how easy it is to use that trait. If you are bold, then visualize the times when you used your boldness. Notice how easy it was for you to be bold. It didn't take much energy, you just naturally preferred to be bold.
Step3
Focus on just 1 - 3 strengths Brainstorm ways that you can use these dominate traits in other situations. Look for ways you can get more education or training to sharpen your skills with this trait. Imagine using these traits in your daily life to get even more impact at work, home, or recreation activities. Just think, you get more results by accentuating your natural traits than those traits that don't feel as natural to you.
Step4
Just be aware of your weak traits...don't sweat them, just be aware So what about your less dominate traits? You can take the time to improve them and over time you will be able to elevate them to a higher level. However, you would spend more energy raising your less natural traits and making less impact than you would with your strengths. Be aware of your less natural traits and then either pick one to improve or find other people you can leverage to help you with this less dominant trait.
Step5
Just try improving 1 - 3 traits...where are you today and where do you want to be? Measure your results. Mark on your Outlook Calender or "paper calendar" what traits you chose to improve. Write down your baseline of where you are with the trait and project out where you want to be for each month of the year. At the end of the year, look at your results. Do an experiment, choose one strong and one less dominant trait. Let me know which trait gave you greater impact by improving it. I look forward to hearing from you in a month or year about successes you had finding your "True Colors!"

Tips & Warnings

  • Finding your personality strengths can help you in picking a career, a mate, designing a job or lifestyle, and improving your relationships
  • Knowing your less natural traits identifies areas you need others' help in certain situations
  • You are unique...fun personality quizzes hit on your tendencies...in some situations, you will not act in your dominant personality type
  • We are a blend of our four personality types showing a degree of each trait along a continuum.
  • Celebrate our diversity of personality traits because you have traits of all types in YOU. In other words, don't bash others because you have similar traits, maybe to a lessor degree, in you

on 1/7/2008 As a psych major, this is right up my alley! Any tests I have taken show that I am indeed a blend. I think "eagle" comes to mind. Definitely not a sanguine, but like those poeple the best. Thanks for the website and internet info.
